| General Dyeing Information: |
| |
It is not always necessary to bleach your hair before using these vegetable based dyes
as some colours may show up on unbleached hair or give a sheen/glow to the hair, however for a really good vibrant colour it is recommend these dyes be used on lightened or naturally pale hair. Yellow or Orange tones in hair can often be neutralised using toner (see under How To...Use Toners section).
Don't use the same tint bowl, tint brush, gloves etc for dyeing hair that you used for bleaching your hair - plastic containers can often retain residue of their previous contents and therefore you would be trying to apply dye to your hair that has faint traces of bleach in it - this can cause the dye not to stick and streaky/patchy areas.
Skin Patch/Sensitivity Testing is highly recommended before using these products and, as with all hair dyes, if a reaction occurs rinse off immediately and discontinue use.
Stand Testing is also advised as this will give indication of colour result and brand suitability.
More information on Strand / Sensitivity Tests can be found on under the How To section.

Vegetable based dyes are not permanent and should not damage your hair. |

| Choosing A Vegetable Based Dye: |
| |
There are many vegetable based semi-permanent dyes on the market, however the most popular and longest lasting tend to be Special Effects & Manic Panic. Both of these last approx 3-6 weeks depending on hair type, colour, porosity etc although as a general rule blue based tones tend to last a shorter period of time than red based ones, with some colours being known to last for much longer than 6 weeks in many people. Manic Panic Hair Dyes are fully VEGAN FRIENDLY with no animal testing.
Vegetable based dyes such as Manic Panic can be mixed to create unique colours, On the other hand you can 'dilute' these dyes using conditioner or the relevant toner/mixer to give a more pastel shade.
You can look in the Beeunique Hair Dye Gallery to see actual hair dye results on others to help you decide which colours you would like to try - results can vary from person to person depending on condition, base colour, porosity etc.
Do NOT use Manic Panic Hair Dye on hair that has recently been conditioned - conditioner coats the hair and can stop the dye from sticking! If you are using a hairdresser to apply these dyes please make them aware of this. |

| Step By Step Guide: |
| |
Shampoo hair thoroughly using a pH acid balanced shampoo.
| |
Rinse completely to remove all residue. Towel dry leaving hair damp |
| |
Use petroleum jelly or baby oil around hair line and on ears to prevent colour from staining skin |
| |
Wear protective plastic, rubber or latex gloves for application. |
| |
Empty desired amount into a plastic bowl (approx 1/2 jar for short hair, full jar for long hair) |
| |
With the aid of a tint brush apply colour beginning 1/2 inch from the scalp and working it evenly through to the ends of the hair. Begin at the nape of the neck and work upwards through the head of hair. Be sure to completely saturate the hair shaft. |
| |
Continuously comb colour through hair until it becomes frothy. This indicates that it has been thoroughly absorbed. Lighter shades may require more combing to obtain maximum penetration and a longer lasting effect. |
| |
Leave colour on hair for 15 minutes or longer. Manic Panic will process fully in 15 minutes at normal room temperature. The use of an infra red heat lamp will reduce the processing time to between 5 and 7 minutes and can produce a deeper coloration with longer lasting properties. For resistant hair it is advisable to place a plastic cap on the hair and leave on for 30 minutes or longer. |
| |
Rinse hair thoroughly, away from face. Due to the restructuring properties of the product no after-treatments are necessary |
